Athens Has Been an Amazing Surprise

We slept in this morning. No alarms, no plans until we felt like it. Eventually we headed down to the hotel gym and shortly after, the kids came and joined us. Tiny gym but better than nothing.

After that we went on the hunt for breakfast. Stopped at a bakery on the way and walked out with a ton of stuff for about 7 euro. Brunch, gelato, a Freddo cappuccino at a cafe where we just sat and chatted up the locals. Athens has been an amazing surprise. Maybe it's our neighbourhood but the cafe, food, and bar scene is so good. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It's a completely different pace here.

After the bakery run and brunch we headed back to the hotel, got some work done, then went back out for lunch. Lunch here is between 2-5pm, which took some adjusting. Another souvlaki at our fav spot. Tried the Mythos beer. Canada does it better for sure.

The Acropolis
We went to the Acropolis after lunch and got there just after 5pm. We'd hoped for a morning entry time but everything was booked, so we opted for the 5-6pm slot. Still hot but shady in spots. The marble everywhere is insane. Over 2,400 years old and you can just walk pretty much anywhere. Took a ton of photos. The walk down was beautiful.

Headed back to the hotel for an 8pm meeting. At 9:30 we decided to grab dinner while the kids chilled in the room. Late night date night for drinks and more food that we really didn't need, but when in Greece you know. We've been liking the change of pace in Athens.
