Lagos: Narrow Streets and Poolside Recovery
We all slept in this morning. Had groceries for breakfast but it was past 9am and we figured we should drive the five minutes into town to get our bearings. The plan was to hit this little coffee shop with raving reviews. What we did not plan for was the streets of Lagos. They are VERY narrow. One minute you're on what feels like a normal road, the next you're basically driving through a pedestrian plaza where cars should absolutely not be. Locals were giving us looks. But we managed to navigate out of the thick of it and find a parking spot just outside the old town.

We walked to the coffee shop and had an incredible breakfast. Peanut toast for Lukas, avocado toast for Sofie, an acai bowl for Chad, and papaya with yogurt, granola, honey and berries for me. That papaya situation was pure deliciousness. Definitely making that as an afternoon snack back home.

Afterward we ended up wandering toward the market and poking around the surf shops, bathing suit shops, and souvenir spots as they opened up. We spent way more time in the old town than we anticipated but we'll definitely go back.

The fish market was an experience. The kids and Chad couldn't stand the smell. I tried to scope out salmon filets for dinner but got worried about lugging fish back to the car in the heat and then leaving it there while we did a full grocery run.

We came back to the Airbnb and spent the rest of the day poolside while Chad was up on the deck taking a jam-packed day of work meetings.
